The goal of "The Blue Danube Project" is to explore the current health of one of the world's most important rivers and to assemble, in a single film, the best thinking available today on how to address the many problems the river faces. Some of these problems are ancient, some historically recent, but all are due to human activity. World Water Films will illuminate the causes of the Danube's present state, however our goal is to educate, not to fix blame, to increase broad based awareness, not to accuse.
Europe's largest river has been selected for our attention due to its immense importance,
and because its level of pollutants, presents the world with an example which must be addressed for all rivers worldwide. None of us can live without freshwater, no technology can manufacture it and there is no way to replace or duplicate it.
Ever since ancient times, the Danube has served at least a third or more of Europe as a main artery of communication and commerce, transporting both produce and culture, while nourishing farmlands and carrying the run-off. Thus its value to humanity includes the seeds of its own destruction, as it has filled with all that man discards, it has also gradually lost the famous Blue Danube color.
World Water Films' producers are all seasoned filmakers with extensive professional experience in all areas of motion picture production and documentary filmmaking. They run their own companies and have extensive knowledge in both technical and creative realms. These award-winning filmmakers are deeply committed to "The Blue Danube Project" based upon their previous involvement with projects bringing environmental awareness and issues to light. In addition, one of the producers, George Leszkay, is the Vice President of World Water Rescue Foundation in charge of its Eastern European and Multimedia Operations. Complete list of each filmmakers' credentials are available upon request.
